Sponsored by the College of Communications:  "Big Data – Big Responsibilities".  The mining of “Big Data” – the massive, inter-related data bases now available to public and private organizations – is opening opportunities for researchers, journalists, advertisers and marketers. But how do communicators and corporations use that data thoughtfully, responsibly and with sensitivity to concerns about privacy and over-reach?

This year’s Davis Lecture in Advertising Ethics will focus on corporate social responsibility and the use of big data. Our speaker will be Stephen Loudermilk, Director of Media and Industry Analyst Relations for LexisNexis. Stephen is an expert in the use of big data and will update us on current uses, opportunities and problems in the area.
